Love is in the Air

Howdy everyone!  Holly and I (Richard) just came back from a trip back to Toronto, Canada (where I am from), with a multi-day detour into Central New York state.

In Toronto, we attended the wedding of Doris & Joran, where I had the honour of being the Best Man, and delivering one of the wedding toasts!  Holly even caught the bouquet (something she had been hoping to do before getting married)!!  Joran is a close college buddy of mine—we both took and TA’ed one of the hardest Computer Science classes together, have been on several memorable camping trips, and are both photography buffs.  Holly and I first met these two lovebirds D&J in the summer of 2009 when they came to visit us in Seattle, and it was immediately obvious that they were meant for one another.  Congratulations to the happy couple, and enjoy your honeymoon!

Several days later we headed south to Syracuse, NY, to attend the US wedding reception of Kush & Sonia.  They had gotten married months before, in India.  At the reception we were treated to beautiful traditional song and dance, and delicious Indian cuisine.  I got to see some college friends that I had not seen in a while, and also fit in a quick trip to show off my alma mater to Holly!  Kush (and his twin brother Lav) are both classmates, roommates, and “band-mates” of mine from Cornell.  To Kush & Sonia, we wish them a prosperous and happy life together.   Congrats!

  3. If you look carefully enough you can see Cayuga Lake in the background, as well as the 'fishbowl' of Uris Library, and the Gothics of West Campus. That's pretty iconic!

  5. It was great having you both. Are we going to experience any traditional song and dance in Seattle?

    How are the preparations going?
